Over the weekend I cruised through the Shinjuku photography gallery again. Some of the best stuff wasn’t on the walls, but at the entranceways, where copies of issue 10 of 81LAB, a photography magazine from Osaka, were free for the taking.
Inside were these portaits of Tibetans in exile with hidden faces taken by LIO in Dharamsala, part of a spread called 「顔の見えないポートレート」 SAVE TIBET PROJECT. The photographer writes that he didn’t show the faces of his subjects because of concern for their relatives in Tibet.
Issue 10 isn’t up yet, but the nine before are. The whole production is remarkably well done.
